Description | Written while Austen Chamberlain held the post of Postmaster General, the letter concerns complaints made by Mr Wrench, and by Lady Lee Anderson, about mail having been tampered with. Chamberlain explains that 'you will yourself see the impossibility of my doing anything effective unless I have definite cases brought to my notice', but promises that if Lady Lee Anderson 'cares to take the trouble necessary to establish a case & to bring it to my immediate notice, I will undertake to do my utmost to get to the bottom of the matter' |
