Extent1 item
Date1912
DescriptionTyped letter informing Lord Scarborough of the decisions made at a meeting convened by Mr. Faithfull Begg at the London Chamber of Commerce on July 31st. He states that the meeting was convened 'to form a City Committee to arrange procedure in regard to raising funds to place the London School of Tropical Medicin in a proper financial position...we have now received over 29,000 GBP. In order to prosecute the appeal and at the same time to lighten the labour of individuals effectively engaged in it, the meeting resolved itself into about a dozen groups each of which will deal with a special section - geographical or commercial - of the interests involved. An earnest desire was expressed to secure your co-operation on the West Africa group of the City Committee..' Written at 9 Egerton Place, 8 August 1912.
