Description
Letter written on 27 October 188? to Sayle commiserating with him on his mother's death and giving his own thoughts on life after death. 'Was I not more happy when I believed without questioning all the simple faith that I was taught - a God, a good being & a life hereafter where old friends would meet & live in happiness'. He talks about the death of his own mother when he was born, and his stepmother when he was 11. 'You are all I have to live for now' said my father to us children in his trouble'.
