DescriptionLetter, dated 19 September, written from Manor House, Alvediston, Salisbury, in which he recalls Strauss's visit to London and his 'kindness in coming to luncheon with me at No. 10' and also remembers Strauss's help during a visit he made to Washington in 1956 when he was Chairman of the United States Atomic Energy Commission. He thanks Strauss for sending him details of the plan which he and General Eisenhower have proposed for the Middle East and the second paragraph is devoted to Lord Avon's comments on this: 'I am sure that the more we can turn the minds of the countries of the Middle East to any forms of enterprise which will raise the standard of life for the area, the better it must be'.
