/33 is a typescript letter of thanks from the Foreign Office, 9 October 1952, for Monckton's subscription towards a wedding present: 'Winston has given me the cheque...as a wedding present to Clarissa and myself...we intend to but a piece of furniture'; with manuscript note of thanks at the foot of the letter;
/34 is a holograph letter written from Rose Bower, Broad Chalke, Salisbury, 17 January 1954 in acknowledgment of a letter from Monckton. He writes: 'I quite understand and agree'
/35 is a brief letter of thanks to 'you both' written from Chequers, Butler's Cross, Aylesbury, Bucks, 16 December 1956
/36 is an undated pencil note of thanks for 'your wonderful present', written on a compliments slip with the printed crest of the Prime Minister, but ending with a request to have 'a word about Tito' |
