DescriptionRecords of the Northern Counties Women's Amateur Athletic Association (NCWAAA). Comprises a small number of minutes and meeting papers; a sequence of athletics programmes relating to meetings organised by NCWAAA; substantial volume of results relating to women's athletics meetings held during 1970s and 1980s; correspondence, largely dated 1978-1982, relating to women's athletics in North-West England; and a small number of miscellaneous photographs.

Note that this collection includes a small number of papers relating to the Northern Women's Track and Field League (NWTFL). Other papers related to the NWTFL can be found at ATH/NWTFL

Administrative HistoryThe Northern Counties Women's Amateur Athletic Association (NCWAAA) was established during the late 1920s, at a similar time to the establishment of women's associations in the Midland Counties and then in the Southern Counties, the latter was the last area to form a women's association in March 1930. The Northern Counties Amateur Athletic Association (NCAAA) itself had been established in 1879 by representatives of various northern clubs. The NCAAA and NCWAAA were replaced by the North of England Athletic Association in 1992.
