| Description | Extensive sequence of papers relating to athletics organisations and local clubs. Papers primarily relate to English organisations, but there are some records of American clubs as well as some international athletics associations. Collections vary in extent and the collection includes a significant amount of material relating to Birchfield Harriers; the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF); the National Union of Track Statisticians (NUTS); the Pole Vaulters Association; Polytechnic Harriers; the Road Runners Club (RRC); and Small Heath Harriers. In addition, there are records relating to some special interest groups such as the Discus Circle.
Material comprises minutes and administrative papers; newsletters and publications; photographs; club histories; fixture lists; and ephemera such as dinner menu cards. Programmes relating to athletic meetings organised by a specific club are located at ATH/Z/1/1.
This series of papers is primarily ephemeral in nature rather than comprising the 'official' records of each club or association. Many of these papers are likely to have been collected, and organised, by the now defunct National Centre for Athletics Literature (NCAL). |
