DescriptionWritten from 34 Grove End Road, St John's Wood, N.W. dated 17 December. Alma-Tadema is sorry to have missed Henschel's visit. Referring to his illness, he writes: 'I am more than ever convinced that the whole of it is nerves and I am sure I am heartily sick of it'. He is glad to be allowed the occasional cigar and adds that Anna has sung to him to cheer him up. He mentions a visit from Mr and Mrs Paderewski, who brought grapes and greetings from his daughter Laurence, who has left for ?Warshaw. He closes with a riddle about Lloyd George.
