| Description | Written from 17 Grove End Road, St John's Wood, N.W., dated 18 January. Alma-Tadema hopes Mrs Henschel received the wire sent on her birthday. He writes that his birthday went well; he received a portrait of the Princess of Wales. He sends news of family and friends, writing that Anna is prevented from painting due to trouble with her eyes. He is going to Broadway tomorrow where his wife will join him next week. He has just finished a painting which has taken two years' work and he needs to finish Coriolanus scenery for Irving, so has not had time to paint a picture for Agnew's exhibition. |
