DescriptionWritten from 17 Grove End Road, St John's Wood, N.W., dated 18 August. Alma-Tadema thanks Henschel for sending congratulations on his success in Paris. He cannot join his wife and daughter Anna in Yorkshire as he has to finish the holly hocks and oleanders in his paintings. He writes that Laurence has hurt her hand in a guillotine window. He comments: 'Pictures as difficult as ever. Weather beautiful so no excuse for not painting well'.
