He cannot join his wife and daughter Anna in Yorkshire as he has to finish the holly hocks and oleanders in his paintings. He writes that Laurence has hurt her hand in a guillotine window. He comments: 'Pictures as difficult as ever. Weather beautiful so no excuse for not painting well'.
