DescriptionLetter written from 34 Grove End Road addressed 'dear Sir Samuel' dated 17 November. The letter comments that Alma-Tadema has been asked to exhibit a painting for International Society of Painters and Sculptors in Paris. He wishes 'to request the favour of lending me "Whispering Noon" for the purpose' and state that 'everyting necessary in connection with this' will be dealt with.

The painting 'Whispering Noon' was completed in 1896. The International Society of Painters and Sculptors was founded in 1898 and its membership was predominantly professional artists.
