TitleLetter from Lawrence Alma-Tadema to Mr Shields
Extent1 item
Date[1874]
DescriptionLetter written from Townshend House addressed 'My dear Shields' dated 10 September. The letter concerns a meeting with Reverend 'Canon Kingsley' and Alma-Tadema notes that he feels 'highly obliged'.

Mr. Shields is possibly Frederic James Shields (1833–1911), an artist. The reference to Reverend Canon Kingsley could be to Charles Kingsley (1819-1875) who was a Church of England clergyman, a novelist and a controversialist.
