DescriptionLetter written from Townshend House addressed 'My dear Boehm' dated 17 January. The letter congratulates Boehm on his successful elected post and commenting how it was too late to call otherwise 'I would have come to tell you verbally'.

It is most likely that Mr Boehm is Sir (Joseph) Edgar Boehm (1834-1890), a sculptor. His delayed election as an associate member of the Royal Academy took place in 1878to which this letter appears to relate. He was elected to full membership in 1881.
