Administrative History | Cadell and Davies: Booksellers and publishers. Thomas Cadell, 1742-1802. In 1758 he was sent to London and apprenticed to Andrew Millar. He rose rapidly in his profession, and was a generous patron of authors. William Davies, Cadell's partner was a Montgomeryshire man. Cadell and Davies appear in Welsh imprints although they did not specialise in Welsh books.
