| Title | Letter from Wenzel to Secretary: 25 September 1809: Freetown |
| Extent | 1 item |
| Date | 1809 |
| Description | The unavoidable delay in Freetown, occasioned by Mrs. Wenzel's weakness after fever, has brought heavy expense. Dawes decided that Mrs. Wenzel was unfit to sail. They are heavily overdrawn owing to compensation money to the discharged boat's owner, the necessaries they have had to buy for their location, and the cost of living on their voyage from England and in Freetown. There is some hope of taking the boat the next week, if weather permits, and this would avoid their having to draw upon the next quarter's salary. |
