| Description | Butscher, with 25 boys, occupies the schoolhouse he built in the dry season, while the Renners, with 17 girls occupy the old house. Scarcity of rice causes them anxiety. They can only provide one rice meal a day and they make up with yams, cassava, biscuits and flour-soup. The "natives" would bring them no rice but sold it for rum would not accept their cloth.
