DescriptionOn doctor's advice he must take relief from duty owing to his bad cough. Wenzel will take Sunday services for some weeks. Governor Thompson has offered the use of his boat and crew and a horse.
The Bashia missionaries are asking for provisions and shoes amounting to £60. Nylander cannot meet this without support from home. Capt. Macaulay has not yet presented his bill for the goods he supplied the missionaries on the outward voyage.
Enclosure: Extract from Butscher's letter of 26 Sep 1809, Bashia:
There are now 30 children in the schools. They have only 6 weeks rice supply, and no goods with which to buy it. He asks for a bill for £60 for provisions and sales-goods to be sent by hired boat. [cf. 30]. One should be sent every 3-4 months to fetch their journals.
