TitleLetter from Klein to Secretary: 14 February 1812: Kakara
Extent1 doc.
Date1812
DescriptionThey were pleased with their welcome and with the behaviour and attainments of the 80 children being educated in the mission, some of whom could well become schoolmasters if more help were forthcoming. The mission has gained the friendship of the chiefs.
At Kakara they will form a separate household, but will help all they can in teaching. They have had to hire a maid who speaks English and Susu in order to set Mrs. Klein free for teaching the girls, and the 8 and 14 years old maids of all work free to learn. Butscher and Renner command much respect in the country; Butscher especially seems able to surmount all difficulties.
