| Title | Letter from Pratt to Rio Pongas missionaries [copy]: 31 August 1811: London |
| Extent | 1 doc. |
| Date | 1811 |
| Description | After Nylander has read this Wilhelm and Klein (now en voyage) will take it on and deliver the instructions they have received. It is desired that Butscher visit London by the following Whit Tuesday to bring full information relating to the mission after excursions to the interior with Wilhelm. Religious and school books are being sent to Nylander. His report on schools and the Society for Poor Relief [see 44 and 47] aroused much interest. His proposed re-marriage is welcomed, but Committee prefer his remaining in S. L. at present, doing all he can for the heathen there, while studying the Bullom people with a view to future work among them [see 47]. The Committee is investigating the finances of the settlement, to form clear ideas of the expenses which have led to overdrawing beyond salaries. The exact form of future bills for salaries and extras is given. |
