| Description | Gives an account of the Bashia fire and of the deaths at S. L. of the Hartwigs, Mrs. Butscher and Macmillan. She is struggling along with the school but does not find the children teachable. Mrs. Klein holds it barbarous to flog children, but she (Mrs. Renner) cannot manage without it. The girls hate needlework but she enforces it, determined they shall not be idle. |
