| Description | Governor Maxwell's expedition to Rio Pongas destroyed most of the slave factories, rescued 300 slaves and captured 2 ships laden with goods for purchasing slaves, also some of the slave traders.
He gives an account of his interview with Hartwig, and of sending him to Gambier where his Susu knowledge will be serviceable; and of his visit to Maxwell's farm for liberated children to choose 36 to receive sponsored names and be settled on CMS stations. He asks that they be supported in goods not cash. |
