| Description | Major Appleton, who is about to return to S. L., has seen Pratt several times. A clergyman is now likely to be obtained for the chaplaincy. Edward Bickersteth is about to be ordained and he will then sail to S. L. as the Society's visitor, probably with the chaplain and the new schoolmasters. The pall and the gates should soon reach Butscher [see E5/2]. The present intended for Fernandez but withheld should now be employed in the erection of the Christian Institution. Appleton justified the Kleins' removal to the Isles de Los, but this matter must await the visitor's consideration. Some of the children have been misnamed. Naming children after Committee members is acceptable but only if all those who paid have had a child named after them. |
