|Many of the children ('Hebos') whom he recently received from a 'slave vessel' have died. Sickness spread in the vessel's cramped conditions and over half of the cargo of 500 enslaved people are now dead.
He has begun work on a schoolhouse 100' x 26'. He finds relations with MacCarthy strained on the question of whether the Government or the Society should support the children.
