He approves the action taken with the Hortons and sends a copy of Horton's bond not to leave CMS service without their permission. Butler, who is preparing for ordination and superintendance of the Christian Institution cannot sail before Christmas.
A written and legally attested will of Butscher's supersedes his oral death-bed wishes.

Urges diligent study of English and prudence in relations with negroes.
c) Johnson:
Warns against allowing converts to dwell upon the doctrines of election.
d) Wenzel:
Gives statement of his account with CMS and cautions him to live within his means.

Hopes that Susu orthography will be finally fixed.
