Description	There are already schools at all the principal stations and schoolmasters appointed by government; Mr. Bissett is appointed Superintendent of Schools; there are numerous Wesleyan schools; they have remained in Colombo awaiting Mrs. Ward's confinement; describes Manar briefly; while waiting is studying language; hopes to introduce Bell's system into schools; Mr. Howard proposes to print 1,000 sets at moderate price; needs English dictionaries; Dutch and Portuguese bibles which they brought with them are useless as the language has so greatly changed; Mrs. Ward had a son on 20 Aug.
