Description	Rented house and garden for five years; may be advisable to purchase it; entered station in Nov and opened house for preaching; Mr. David helps; cholera attacked village at end of Dec; work had to be closed down; studied language; attended annual meeting of missionaries; was absent from station about six weeks; too great an interruption to his studies and may not attend next year; would like a colleague, possible friend, Mr. [Thomas] Browning; is on friendly terms with missionaries of other denominations though "it does not seem advisable to unite with them in public worship".
