Title
Letter from Schnarre and Rhenius to Pratt: 5 September 1814: Tranquebar
Extent
1 doc.
Date
1814
Description
Cannot work at Tranquebar as they are considered private individuals rather than fellow-labourers; spiritual atmosphere is not in their favour; this feeling has appeared more clearly since Rhenius proposed to hold English services; in any case Tranquebar will soon be returned to Denmark; there has been no contention about this; they have decided to find another place to work and asked Thompson about Madras; Mr. Cammerer mentioned an opening south of Negapatam; will remain in Tranquebar until their Tamil has improved
