Description
Approves of Thomason's sermon at the bishop's visitation; feels that the bishop's charge did little to encourage his clergy, and laments the dissensions and unworthy lives among them; bishop approved of missionaries working among the heathen, but thought they would cause divisions if they preached to Christian congregations; writer thinks remedy lies with more devoted work by the official clergy
Note by Corrie: Writer a half-caste clerk in one of the public offices; his letter shows their power of expressing their thoughts and feelings [on back of page is letter to the editor from "A Mason" concerning the state of free masons and the masonic lodge in Calcutta]
