DescriptionHas returned from superintending native schools in Calcutta to Titalya, at Thomason's desire, Captain Latter having procured for him a government grant of 200 rupees per month to pursue his Tibetan studies; CMS will support him again should the government grant be withdrawn; Tibetans have idols which Hindus also worship, and travel even from Lhasa to cleanse themselves from sin in the Ganges, but they have not the caste system; Captain Latter has obtained for him a collection of their religious books, but the idols are hard to come by as he is outside Tibet
