DescriptionIncludes: Was present at Good Friday services at Chunar, in English and in Hindustani; was impressed by devotion inspired by Bowley's sermon; 17 English and 29 natives took communion; earlier C. heard 32 adult native Christians under Bowley's instruction read, some in Persian, some Nagree characters; some now read scriptures in Hindustani and show great improvement in their lives; the boys he tested in the free school answered well; they are the families of non-commissioned officers, who with their mothers are cared for by CMS; owner of suitable property at Chunar has generously offered it to accommodate the native congregation, now too large for the schoolroom; C. will open a subscription for the building; the property should be vested in the CMS Committee and the church, when built, should serve both European and native congregations; funds are also needed for repairs to the school buildings [copy]
