DescriptionThe bearer, Rev. William Malkin, is coming out as chaplain; Mr. Hough will sail in a few days; two other chaplains, Harper and Jackson, will leave at the end of the month; the latter will be accompanied by the missionaries Bailey and Dawson; assures the committee of ample support for their plans; the grant of £500 per annum is to be increased to £1000; despite the difficulties of numbers of people in England in the post war years missionary giving is up; three weeks since at Colchester nearly £400 was collected instead of the expected £200, and at Bristol £900 where £500 would have been thought liberal; the committee wish the corresponding committee to take over the Tranquebar schools; Mr. Malkin has been advanced £200 and Mr. Jackson £400 to aid them in reaching their stations; greets Schnarre and Rhenius; their financial affairs, mentioned in their journal, are to be settled by the Corresponding Committee [copy].
