DescriptionEncloses statistics for schools (missing); they progress satisfactorily; some heathen schoolmasters have begun to catechise their children from the Catechism and other Christian instructions which is a thing formerly unheard of amongst the heathen; in first six months of year 30 copies of Tamil New Testament in two parts, 40 copies 8 and 12 parts and 100 copies of small tract 'The Principles of Christianity' have been distributed amongst schoolmasters and scholars; John Devasagayam examined schools in Malayaram and Nagoor, the latter has been meeting opposition from another heathen schoolmaster in the town; necessary to purchase small country horse for use of John and David; asks committee for grant to defray expense of keeping it
