DescriptionPrivate letter; sends greetings; Rhenius does not seem to have benefitted from Pratt's letter; "he seems too headstrong, too high-minded, too self-sufficient"; "another Mr. Fenn" would strengthen Thompson's hand in Madras; comments on conduct of Mr. Malkin of Poonamallee; Mr. Roy works well but does not "co-operate much with us" both men affected by "something in Mr. T.'s manners which does not seem to attract and win some. Whilst I say this as I am constrained to do I would bear testimony to his great work in many respects".
