DescriptionArrived in Madras after voyage of nearly seven months; delayed not by bad weather but by lengthy stays at Teneriffe, the Cape and Ceylon; at first B. was due to go to Calcutta, but Deocar Schmid was sent instead; B. has begun to learn Tamil; needs Hebrew lexicon, which has not, as he had thought, been sent; visited all schools in Madras with Rhenius, they are useful as adults come to watch what the children are doing; previous Sunday attended second general meeting of the Tamil Bible Society; the heathen present were particularly attentive to what their own countrymen said.
