Description
Dated 27 October. Replies to points raised during Venn's visit. Bishop Wilson's sermon is being translated. Reichardt has gone to Tubingen at his own expense to learn Arabic. Will send map of Basel mission field in Guinea. Describes progress relating to West African languages after the philologists meeting in September. Asks for help in sending money to India and changing Company's bills. On a private matter explains that his father founded two establishments at Kornthal and Wilhelmsdorf where the old Lutheran doctrine and liturgy were upheld; Wilhelmsdorf has run into debt and although they have raised £4000 another £1000 is needed; asks for help from England; had thought of publishing an appeal in the newspaper of the Evangelical Alliance; asks for advice.
