The building [Basel seminary] is new and cost £1500; there are 30 students, 50 people all together; students can enter from 16 years old and have free board, lodging and education; funds come from subscriptions from Basel inhabitants; they study from 7 in the morning until 8 at night; describes classes and curriculum; CMS pays for 8 people ?25 per annum; there is another institution at Bueggen nine miles away, which is intended as 'a kind of nursery' for Basel; there are nearly 40 boys between 4 and 10 who are taught reading, writing and accounts.
