Realises that the greater part of his brother Benedict's oriental books which are unsold might be of use to CMS; he had sent some (including school books, treatises and translations of the Scriptures) to Leipzig but the bookseller was unable to dispose of them and he therefore offers them all to the Society; is sure they are all worth the carriage and duty to be paid on them; there are also several oriental manuscripts amongst the books at Leipzig which he would like to dispose of himself if the Society finds itself unable to do so; sends list of oriental books with the prices paid for them in Calcutta by Benedict La Roche (10 in Sanscrit, 33 in Bengali, 17 in Hindustani and Hindi, 10 in Persian, 3 in Arabic and 5 miscellaneous). |
