Description
Dated 16 February. Writes privately; their Liberian mission which has had many troubles is on the point of collapse; Mr and Mrs Sessing left and are living with his brother-in-law Mr Gerber; Kissling followed to Sierra Leone two years later; asks advice as to the future work of the Sessings (with a child) and Kissling (who wishes to marry); both men and Mr Hands 'could not forbear themselves in the irritating climate of Africa and under so trying circumstances as theirs were'; Sessing needs his own work but cannot go to the Gold Coast where only Danish is spoken; if CMS cannot employ him he wishes to be a government agent; Kissling 'is a truly recommendable missionary'.
