Relates to permission given to missionaries to return home; queries length of leave and particularly suggests a fixed term for travelling for missionaries who are allowed to visit their own homes on the way back to their mission station; Isenberg has not yet reached Basel, but remains at home; Lieder waited more than four weeks for him and has now returned to Egypt on his own 'Do you not think it fit dear Sir, to accelerate the tardy steps of Mr Isenberg by a monitory letter'; there has been sad news for Lieder's hopes of marriage; the lady's father refused his consent and Lieder has returned to his station alone. Subscribed with extract of letter from Muller to Blumhardt, Alexandria 17 July 1832: German traveller from Mecca reports that Gobat is in monastery in Tigre Province waiting the end of the war between Tigre and Gonder; the son of Saba-Gadis hopes to reconquer the province, but if unsuccessful it may not be possible to remain as a missionary in Abyssinia.
