Description | Dated 21 March. On returning from Germany Hartwig married the lady who cared for Mr Venn's children at Clapham; the Committee deprecated their doing so without asking its views and would point out to seminary students that CMS funds are insufficient for married missionaries at present; as Mrs Hartwig is in every way suitable, however, consent was given. Committee entirely approved discourse given at ordination; certificate of ordination is in his possession, Renner and Hartwig having attested copies; after delay, due to the missing of a convoy, they have sailed with a West India fleet. Mentions formation of the interdenominational British and Foreign Bible Society at beginning of Mar 1804; adds instructions for drawing CMS grant for the four seminary students. (copy) |
