Description | Dated 6 January. Answer to Secretary's letter of 10 December. Objects to the Committee that: he was surprised at his appointment to teach CMS missionaries, but concluded Committee had fully considered his being a dissenter; he conscientiously avoided any inculcation of dissenting principles while teaching the missionaries; he agrees his appointment was temporary, but it was explicitly for the duration of the missionaries' stay in England; asks for reimbursement for books for the missionaries. Endorsed with note of Secretary's reply 4 February 1806: Committee is sorry for his dissatisfaction; Secretary fully understood he was relinquishing his school and stressed the uncertain duration of his appointment, and that not more than two months could be reckoned on, which period has been exceeded; asks him to submit account for books. |
