DescriptionRecords relating to the period in which training for men was provided through the Society's first training college originally known as the Church Missionary Society Institution, later Church Missionary College and Islington College thereafter. [Both the educational and domestic side of the college were the responsibility of the college Principal who worked under 'under the superintendence of the Committee of Visitors'. The Visitors comprised an annually appointed body of nine members plus the Principal and the Secretaries who regularly inspected the College and reported to the General Committee; they also had the power to remove students.
