pp 257-258 correspondence from Mr C. Wood, Admiralty, 11 July 1836, asking that the Society's missionaries support the crew (and others) of HMS Buffalo when it arrives in New Zealand. The Committee in return ask the Lord Commissioners [of the Admiralty] to instruct the ship's Master to 'not allow the gift or sale of ardent spirits to the Natives, and to employ every practicable means to prevent illicit intercourse between Native Females and all those on board the Buffalo', General Committee 12 July 1836;
p 310 request for CMS publications from Capt[ain] Maconochie, going out as Colonial Secretary to Van Diemen's Land [penal colony], on behalf of Sir John Franklin, Governor of the Colony; the publications were to be for a circulating library, General Committee 8 August 1836
