CIS was an oecumenical group aimed at helping 'men and women train for Christian service in relief and reconstruction in Europe and elsewhere' it worked to assist the British Council of Churches 'in creating an informed public opinion upon international relationships; to overcome bitterness and hatred; and to re-establish true fellowship between Christians of all countries' (source: draft constitution 1945). Rev M. A. C. Warren served as acting chairman (1944-1945) later vice-chairman (1945-1946). |
