DescriptionCorrespondence with CEZMS and CMS committee members relating to the work of the CEZMS Council of Reference (concerning Emily Schroder and the Willows/Mildmay training institutions). Including letters from Miss Schroder and a printed paper setting out the relationships between Mildmay and the societies sending candidates to the Willows and the relationshiop between the superintendent of the Willows and the directress nd[1897].

CEZMS bought the Willows as a training home for their candidates. The home was under the management of the Mildmay Trustees, Mildmay being interdenominational. Miss Emily Schroder, principal of the Willows, 1885-1896, found it difficult to provide the training CEZMS wanted. It was felt she was too strict and that she repressed individual character. The trustees dismissed her allegedly to improve the training and put in charge a lady with overseas experience. CEZMS referred to their Council of Reference (of which Henry Elliot Fox, General Secretary, CMS, was a member) a plan for opening a training home of their own.
