NotesAt some point in time, a separate collection relating to the Sierra Leone Diocesan Association was also held in the CMS archive at reference CMS/SLDA. This item is not currently held in the collection and it is unclear whether it was subsequently returned to CMS Headquarters or to an alternative archive respository.
ArrangementThe records are arranged by mission using the same mission references as are used for the other mission sequences in the CMS archive, for example, Sierra Leone Mission (A1). The files for each mission are further divided into groups according to how they were used using the classification below:

Administrative HistoryThe Persia Diocesan Association was founded on 16 September 1920. The committee was not formed until 16 June 1921. It changed its name in 1935 to Iran Diocesan Association. The aim of the Association was to raise support for and increase interest in the diocese and church of Iran. Its members mainly comprised expatriates who had worked in Iran.

The Association was based in Great Britain and included in membership not only missionaries but expatriates from all the services and business firms.

These are the papers of the mission secretary, normally kept in the country or origin. Some papers had been returned to CMS Headquarters, in the United Kingdom, by missionaries for safe-keeping.
