Administrative History | Like his father and grandfather before him, Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton (1865-1919) was a long-term supporter of CMS. He served on several of its committees as well as being a Vice-President and Honorary Treasurer. His interest in Africa led to him writing the regular 'Africa Notes' feature in the CMS periodical, the 'Church Missionary Intelligencer' 1899-1906. He visited several of the Society's mission areas. He founded the Uganda Companay (1903), the East Africa Industries Company, and served as President of the 'Anti-Slavery and Aborigines' Protection Society'. Buxton High School in Mombasa is named in his honour. He died after a car accident 31 May 1919.
