Description
Sends letter by Mr. Casamajor who is preparing for voyage to London; Deocar Schmid has gone to Calcutta; has begun study of Tamil with catechist Rayappa helping over pronunciation; cholera has broken out in Madras and district; 3000 people died in Punderpoor; Rayappa's wife died last Friday [9 Oct].
17 Oct: had written above on 14th and with wife were both taken ill very suddenly with chlolera; Mr. Jay treated them and they are now better
