Minnie, Annie, and Amy were the daughters of Archdeacon John Richard Wolfe (1832-1915), CMS missionary, and Mary Ann Margaret Maclehose (1843-1913). Born in Fuzhou, the sisters attended the 'Church Missionary Children's Home' in England before rejoining their parents in China and taking up the missionary call.
