Administrative HistoryAlfred Menzies (1832-1884) of Kingston, Jamaica but of Scottish parentage was admitted to the CM College in 1853 and was ordained deacon in 1858 by the Bishop of London and as priest by the Bishop of Sierra Leone. He served as a CMS missionary in Sierra Leone from 1858 until 1877 when he was invalided home. In 1879 he was offered renewed service and was appointed as Secretary to the East Equatorial Africa Mission where he served until his retirement in 1883. He married Charlotte Jean Roxburgh, the daughter of Thomas and Virtue Roxburgh (d 1923) in 1860.
